Where it all began: The final scene of the pilot, "Class of Beverly Hills", first broadcast October 4, 1990. Twins Brandon and Brenda Walsh(Jason Priestley and Shannen Doherty) face an uncertain future following an eventful first week at West Beverly Hills High School, prompting Brenda to ask, "Brandon, are we going to make it here?" Brandon then responds, "The houses are bigger, the weather's warmer, and the tan lines are outstanding, but that doesn't exactly mean they've cracked the meaning of life".
One of the show's most endearing characters, bad-boy surfer Dylan McKay makes his first appearance in episode 2, "The Green Room". But Dylan was originally not even supposed to be on the show, hence his debut in the second episode. The story goes that Aaron Spelling had to really fight for Luke Perry to stay on the show. But when executives finally relented, Spelling was proved right when Perry went on to gain the biggest fan base of all the male members of the cast.
One of season 1's more memorable moments-Kelly and Brenda find themselves wearing the exact same dress for the Spring Formal in this episode titled "Spring Dance".
Scott Scanlon(Douglas Emerson), in the final moments before his accidental death, by way of a gun, in season 2's "The Next 50 Years".
In season 3's "Back in the High Life Again", Brenda is shocked and hurt after Dylan and Kelly blatantly tell her that not only has he chosen Kelly over her, but that he and Kelly spent the summer together while she was in Paris. Her response? "I hate you both. Never talk to me again!"
Dylan with his father, Jack, just minutes before Jack's death in a car explosion. Dylan witnesses the explosion and screams in horror at his dad's apparent demise in the final moments of season 3's "Dead End".
"Donna Martin graduates!" was the battle cry of this famous 1993 episode, season 3's "Something in the Air". In the episode, the aftermath of Donna getting drunk at prom is discovered when the school board bans Donna from graduating. The gang decides to protest, leading the junior and senior class in a finals walk-out-either Donna graduates, or none of them do.
From left to right: Dylan McKay(Luke Perry), Kelly Taylor(Jennie Garth), Donna Martin(Tori Spelling), David Silver(Brian Austin Green), Andrea Zuckerman(Gabrielle Carteris), Steve Sanders(Ian Ziering), Brenda Walsh(Shannen Doherty), and Brandon Walsh(Jason Priestley). This was the final scene of the season 3 finale "Commencement", circa 1993.
California University, the series' primary setting for seasons 4-7, makes its debut in season 4's "The Little Fish". This is where Andrea, David, Donna, Kelly, Steve, Valerie, Clare, Brandon, and Brenda attended college, but not all were there all 4 years. Brenda left for London at the end of season 4, Valerie and Clare enrolled in season 5, and Andrea went to Yale at the end of season 5.
Valerie's first appearance in season 5's "What I Did On My Summer Vacation and Other Stories". Later, in the final scene of this same episode, she shows her true colors by smoking in her room at the Walsh house and complaining to her friend in Buffalo over the phone about how squeaky-clean the Walshes and their friends are.
Kelly faces the most terrifying night of her life as she and another girl, Alison, are seriously burned during a house fire at Steve's rave in season 5"s "Up in Flames"
Andrea Zuckerman's final regular appearance, in the season 5 episode "Hello Life, Goodbye Beverly Hills", as she, husband Jesse, and baby Hannah moved to New Haven. But unfortunately, not even a move to greener pastures could save this marriage: Andrea reveals in season 8 that she and Jesse are getting a divorce.
The much more iconic scene in the same episode was Kelly's famous "I choose me" declaration, after Brandon and Dylan tried to compete for her at the end of season 5. Brandon offered her an engagement ring, as seen at left, and Dylan offered her a trip around the world. Both offers were tempting, but Kelly turned them both down. However, she would eventually choose both. Kelly and Brandon reunited at the end of season 7, but broke up at the beginning of season 9. Kelly and Dylan, meanwhile, after dancing around each other for pretty much all of seasons 9 and 10, got back together in the series finale. However, they broke up again in 2004 after having a child together.
Dylan and his new bride Toni(Rebecca Gayheart) in season 6's "One Wedding and a Funeral". The day after their wedding, Toni was killed by her father's hitman(he was supposed to kill Dylan). After the funeral a devastated Dylan left town to sort things out, beginning a nearly 3 year absence from the show.
The gang on the occasion of their college graduation in the season 7 episode "Graduation Day". The graduating class of 1997 included Brandon, Kelly, David, Donna, Steve, Valerie, and Clare. Clockwise: The gang on the eve of their graduation, Valerie Malone(Tiffani Amber Thiessen) on a cliff as she contemplates suicide, Donna, Brandon, David, Steve, Clare Arnold(Kathleen Robertson), Kelly, and Valerie at the graduation.
Brandon and Kelly on their wedding day in the season 8 finale, titled, appropriately enough, "The Wedding". Well, what was almost their wedding day. As the ceremony was starting, they shared a heart-to-heart and decided they weren't ready to get married, to the shock and utter surprise of their family and friends (and the viewers).
The end of a era: Brandon Walsh leaves Beverly Hills after headlining the series for 9 years in the season 9 episode "Brandon Leaves'. Following his botched wedding with Kelly at the end of season 8, Brandon decides to leave Beverly Hills and moves to DC to write for the New York Chronicle. Brandon's departure makes him the last of the Walsh clan to leave, the family who the show was originally about. Following this episode, Jennie Garth picks up top billing for the remainder of the series.
Steve and Janet(Lindsay Price) on their wedding day in season 10's "Baby, You Can Drive My Car". They were married in a small ceremony in a park, with just their friends present.
The latest addition to the gang, continuing the next generation: Madeline "Maddy" Sanders, born prematurely to Steve and his bride, Janet(yes, the baby interrupted their honeymoon by making an early appearance in season 10's back-to-back two-parter "Family Tree" and "What's In a Name?").
David and Donna on their wedding day in the series finale "Ode to Joy"(May 17, 2000)
Clockwise, from left to right, in the series finale: Kelly and Dylan, Steve and Janet(Lindsay Price), the final scene of the series, and David and Donna, the couple that rode off in the sunset in the final episode.
