MELROSE PLACE:
Premiere Date: July 8, 1992
Series Finale: May 24, 1999
Melrose Place is the most popular spin-off of Beverly Hills 90210. It features a group of young adults living in an apartment complex, and quickly became a hit as a standalone series. It's considered a spinoff because its character Jake Hanson, played by Grant Show, started off on 90210 as a older love interest of Kelly's. Additionally, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Brian Austin Green, and Tori Spelling made guest appearances on the first 3 episodes of Melrose Place to continue that storyline, with Kelly eventually letting go and heading back to Beverly Hills. The show got the audience it needed, and quickly became a hit. The people in the apartment complex were: Dr. Michael Mancini(Thomas Calabro), his wife Jane(Josie Bissett), gay social worker Matt Fielding(Doug Savant), receptionist Alison Parker(Courtney Thorne-Smith), her goofy roommate and struggling writer Billy Campbell(Andrew Shue). Aerobics teacher Rhonda Blair(Vanessa Williams) and Southern actress and waitress Sandy Harling(Amy Locane) originally appeared in season 1, but were soon replaced by photographer Jo Reynolds(Daphne Zuniga) and Alison's boss Amanda Woodward(Heather Locklear), who bought the apartment complex-and the show would never be the same again. Other characters included: Jane's troublemaking sister Sydney Andrews(Laura Leighton), Michael's colleague Dr. Kimberly Shaw(Marcia Cross), whom he had an affair with and eventually married and divorced; hospital Chief of Staff Dr. Peter Burns(Jack Wagner), restauranteur Kyle McBride(Rob Estes), his wife Taylor(Lisa Rinna), artist Samantha Reilly(Brooke Langton), prostitute Megan Lewis(Kelly Rutherford), who was hired by Kimberly to have an affair with Michael; Amanda's coworker(and later Sydney's husband) Craig Field(David Charvet); Dr. Brett Cooper(Linden Ashby), his ex-wife Lexi Sterling(Jamie Luner), Michael's younger sister Jennifer(Alyssa Milano), and Kyle's brother Ryan(John Haymes Newton).
