Season 1(1990-1991) :
Twins Brandon and Brenda Walsh(Jason Priestley and Shannen Doherty) move from Minnesota to Beverly Hills. Colin has a cocaine problem, which Kelly picks up, winding up in rehab. After getting out she takes in her roommate from the rehab center, teenage runaway Tara(Paige Moss), and winds up in a frightening hostage situation when Tara attempts suicide. In the season finale, Colin tries to escape going to jail, but Brandon corners him and the cops arrest him. Nat and his girlfriend Joan(Julie Parrish) decide to get married after finding out she's pregnant, while Brandon and Kelly talk about getting back together, finding out Dylan is in London with Brenda.
Season 7(1996-1997) :
This season marks the gang's final year of school. Valerie has an affair with married accountant Kenny, who helped her with the After Dark's financial problems. Joan goes into labor at her and Nat's wedding and has a son, Frankie. David gets $250,000 from his grandfather's estate and goes on a spending spree. He buys half interest of the After Dark from Val, who is promptly scammed out of her money by a crooked financial manager. Donna is stalked by a psycho student, which ends in a hostage takeover of the CU television station, and in March her dad(Michael Durrell) suffers a stroke. After a fling with Tracy(Jill Novick), Brandon gets back together with Kelly, and she moves in with him at the Walsh house. The season ends with the gang graduating from CU.
Season 8(1997-1998) :
The season starts off with a bang-literally-as a relaxing end of summer trip to Hawaii ends with Kelly being shot in the stomach in a drive-by shooting. She recovers, but complications cause her to have amnesia- and not remember Brandon. However, she eventually gets her memories back. Noah(Vincent Young), whom the gang met in Hawaii, moved to LA and Val helps him get a job at the After Dark. Steve has an affair with single mom Carly(Hilary Swank), and he and Brandon start up a newspaper, The Beverly Beat. Noah, who is the heir to a corporate fortune, dates Donna, and Val and David pretend to be having an affair to make them jealous. David sold After Dark to Noah to get out of debt, and Val becomes his new business partner. Brandon and Kelly were supposed to get married in the season finale, but they call it off as the ceremony is starting.

Con artist Sophie(Melrose Place's Laura Leighton), who knows Val and has a crush on David, gets a job as columnist at the Beverly Beat through Steve. She instead moves in on David, who starts a new radio show at the After Dark. Noah and his family go broke when the IRS fines his father, who commits suicide. Noah then develops a serious drinking problem. Kelly opens a dress store with Donna and starts starts dating Matt(Daniel Cosgrove), the handsome lawyer with offices in the same building, while Brandon gets a job with the New York Chronicle and leaves town. Steve then decides, with Brandon gone, to turn the Beverly Beat into a tabloid. Valerie moves back to Buffalo at Thanksgiving, and Dylan returns after a three-year absence. Donna's scheming cousin Gina(Vanessa Marcil) moves into the beach apartment, and dates Dylan after he fails to get together with Kelly. Matt moves into the Walsh house in exchange for legal services and Steve finds out his mother is gay. Dylan buys the Peach Pit and After Dark to keep a financially strapped Noah from selling it. Finally, Kelly is sexually assaulted by Matt's client, whom she eventually kills in self-defense when he attacks her a second time.

This is the final season of the series. Noah and Donna break up when Donna cheats on him. They reconcile and move in together, but breaking up for a second time in the spring. Gina moves in with Dylan at the Beverly Royale hotel, where he now lives after fighting with David over Gina. After initial misgivings, he proposes, and they get married in a small informal ceremony with just their friends. She ends up going into early labor on their honeymoon and gives birth to a girl, Madeline. Meanwhile Donna discovers that Gina is actually her half-sister, since her dad had an affair with her aunt. When she tells Gina, she doesn't take it well. Dr. Martin and Gina eventually make up, but he dies from a stroke at the end of the episode. At Christmas, Matt proposes to Kelly, who accepts and quits her her job at the store. Donna takes in Camille(Josie Davis), who is dating David, as a partner. Dylan learns that his father is actually alive, having faked his death in the car explosion 7 years earlier and has a difficult time reconciling with him.
